We are a short-run journal and book printer based in Exeter in rural Devon. We started printing books for our parent publishing company, Imprint Academic, in the late 1990s. By 2007 we were printing books for many well-known publishers and self-publishing individuals.

As expert printers, all of us here at ImprintDigital.com have a passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated attitude towards making high-quality books.

We have been in the printing industry for over 40 years so we know what works and what does not work. All our printing work is produced from our rural factory in Exeter in-house. We make sure any printing work that is submitted to us is completed by us and not subcontracted out to other printers.

Imprint Digital printed my first collection of short stories, The Gift, last month and I was very impressed with the service they provided from start to finish. The interface which provides instant quotes online is very easy to use, and helped me to tailor my requirements (number of copies, size of book, addition of French flaps, etc) to my budget. I cannot praise ImprintDigital enough. I approached them to print my first novel and within a few days of me sending them the files they sent me a proof copy. I arrived at Digital Imprint with a folder of 300 images which I wanted to make into a graphic novel. They first offered good advice by recommending some excellent typesetters who set to work and created the actual novel. Digital Imprint then liaised with the typesetters for the print run. Evie and the team were quick and efficient with an excellent level of communication throughout. They made everything easy and stress-free! Highly recommended.

Writing a memoir for my ailing brother was enough of a challenge for a small group of friends and family. Getting it printed though could not have been easier with Imprint Digital, especially the hugely supportive Evie. Never done anything like it before but with a metaphoric holding of the hand she guided me through the process with consulate ease. As a complete novice, when it came to preparing my manuscript for printing I needed a lot of help and advice. Recently completed my father's memoirs with Imprint Digital and couldn't recommend them highly enough. We worked with Evie, who was a pleasure to deal with, and made the whole process very straight forward. They sent out a physical proof of the book which allowed us to make final tweaks and gave us great peace mind about the final product. The book production has a real wow factor and has been much commented on. It looks as good if not better than most professional autobiographies I have read. It's a minefield for the uninitiated to select a company to print your book, but I would not hesitate to recommend them or work with them again in the future.

We came to Imprint Digital after much searching on the web and having previously had a proof made by one of the big online, self-publishing companies. Right from the get-go, the company were very responsive, provided us with a sample of their work and a very useful guidebook, that helps newbies like us. They were also very patient, answering many questions from someone who knows little about the print process. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

All files should be sent to us as press-ready PDF files. If you are unable to send files in this format then a word file for your manuscript can be sent. We will convert this file into a PDF file and send it back to you for checking. If you are happy then we can proceed to print.

We do not offer print on demand. We are a short-run printing company and produce books from as little as 10 copies. Unlike print on demand, we do not have any high setup cost and ordering copies of your book from 100 copies will get you a very competitive unit cost.

All books that we print come in different shapes and sizes, paper types, cover laminations and have many different options you can add to make your book unique. If you want to find out how much your book will be to print please visit our online quote calculator.

Orders can be placed on our website via our online quote/order form here. We are also able to accept orders by email as long as you know all the specifications of your book. If you are unsure of what specifications you would like for your book, please contact us.

Due to our specialist equipment and the time we have invested in becoming the specialist book printer in the UK we are able to print any size book between A6 (148 x 105mm) and A4 landscape (210 x 297mm). This means you can print your book at standard book sizes or you can have your book in a custom size.

This depends on a variety of factors but in most cases, paperback books are printed and shipped within 5 to 7 working days and hardback books are shipped within 4 weeks depending on the quantity. Please contact us if you have an urgent delivery timeframe.

Yes, we offer bound proofs for paperback books and hardback books. Please note that most of our hardback bound proofs are bound up as paperback books with a sample cover. We do this in order to get the proof copy out to you quickly and keep costs low. We can produce a complete hardback bound proof but the shipping time on this proof will be greater than our usual 1 to 3 days and may include an additional cost.

No, we don't, we print all books in-house in our production facility in Exeter. We don’t sub out any printing work to other printers or to any company abroad. Some extras such as foiling are sent out to a specialist company that we have been working with for several years.
